The University Archives houses about 25,000 printed images of people, places, and events, and we have four times as many negatives. While the earliest images date to the late 1800s, most of the photographs in our collection were printed to be used in university publications, and were transferred to us from the former Office of University Relations in the late 1970s. They are predominantly black-and-white 8x10” prints, but we do have some color prints as well. We also have a large set of 4x6” color prints which were given to us by student media organizations.
The images are filed by Subject (athletics, building name, event, organization, etc.) or by Person (faculty, staff, administrators by name). Most of these images are not digitized, but can be scanned for a small fee.
