The University Archives is mandated to preserve, arrange, and provide access to Tulane University records whenever possible. We take our responsibility seriously, and therefore we ask patrons to follow certain guidelines when using our material. Most of the materials in the University Archives are unique documents which do not exist elsewhere; this means that if they are lost, they are lost forever. Therefore, as with all archives and special collections departments, the University Archives follows special guidelines to help ensure the survival of the irreplaceable items with which we are entrusted.

Please understand that our regulations are not intended to hinder anyone's use of our holdings. Instead, we hope that our guidelines will help us preserve these rare materials for use by everyone.
